Feelings

All I can say is that this year has been crazy! To think that this is my last year is blowing my mind. I never thought I would make it this far, especially not in the Digital Media Production Program. I always thought I would go to music school at Lakehead University and become a singer. I never thought I would have a career at Dougall Media or that I would meet my best friend in college.

Currently, I am a full-time student working three jobs. It isn’t easy to juggle everything and sometimes I feel like I’m drowning in homework. When I feel like this, I just have to remind myself that I am strong and I can do it. I just need to pick myself up and create a schedule. I have a monthly planner and it has definitely saved my life more than once.

Most of my classes this semester have been pretty slow and relaxing. This was a huge change from the previous year and last semester. Last semester was the most hectic semester that I have ever experienced! I had two of the hardest classes on the exact same day, then at the end of the semester, we had to show our class our completed project and we had a huge exam. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger I guess haha!

I do feel a lot more confident now than I did in my first year though. When I first started this program, I had no idea how to do anything and now when I watch movies or YouTube videos, I find myself critiquing them or seeing something I was taught in class and explaining to the person next to me how they edit a specific scene.

In my classes now, we are mainly working with clients and and doing on air livestreams. I am used to the livestreams because we’ve done them every year, but I have never worked with a client before this semester. Working with clients has been an amazing experience! I love making people happy and being able to make our clients happy with the content we are providing is incredible.

Overall, from my experience with the Digital Media Production Program, I feel confident, happy, enthusiastic, and excited. I am super excited to graduate and I can’t wait to see where life takes me!
